More shootings at Hip-Hop Clubs in NY....

Two Source employees were detained over the weekend in yet another club shootout! The incident happened at the Limmerick House bar across the street from The Source's main office. Each time an incident happens, it reignites fire within the Hip-Hop world. Violence in Hip-Hop is now an argument throughout society. Does Hip-Hop really lead to violence? Is making Hip-Hop gangstafied worth it? At some point, I hope individuals will reevaluate their marketing tactics as well as ethics...

Kool G Rap & Ma Barker talk about "SUPERHEAD"

I couldn't help but comment on this article. I have read some of Korrine Steffans book, "Confessions of a Video Vixon," and 1/3 of the book is about her relationship with Kool G Rap. Kool G says that even though they have a child together (which may not even be his) he's still taken care of him. Korrine overexaggerates throughout the book, says Kool G. Ma Barker (Kool G's wife) talk about Korrine's book with AllHipHop. I've heard a lot of discussion on the radio about this book, and a lot of the people she names, say she's just putting everyone's business out there to the public. A lot of people are going to "beef" with her, but at this point, I don't think she cares. She's 7 million dollars richer!

Keyshia Cole...

I just read an article on Vibe Magazine's website. Keyshia Cole is probably one of the newest artists out that I'm really feeling. I don't know if you all have heard her album, but she talks about some "real" situations, and how love goes wrong. Of all people, I can relate to this album. I've been through it all, and knowing that I'm not the only one that's had ups and downs in a relationship is comforting. It amazes me how some artists just roll out (from their homes) to pursue their career....Just like Keyshia says, you learn from your mistakes; and learn what not to go through again....

From the Ghetto....To the Runway

Many of the fashion trends in Hip-Hop we see today came from the seventies and eighties! "It has stretched itself across racial, economic, cultural, and global boundaries to become what it is today: a billion dollar industry which can still be accessed by the little guy with big dreams." Hip-hop's fashion began in the South Bronx. It never meant to be a trend, just an expression of a new point of view. Those bamboo earrings that were so popular before, are just as popular today...I still have girlfriends that wear them daily. "When rappers started to get national recognition it was this archetypal look that the world saw. However, it wasn't until prominent rappers such as Run DMC, Sugar Hill Gang and Kurtis Blow started to generate substantial money that the world began to copy the hip-hop style. "
